JJ’s Waste & Recycling was founded by Joseph John Richards, who secured his first refuse and sanitary curbside collection contract in Murwillumbah Shire in Australia in 1932.
Since then, the company has experienced tremendous growth and now has a presence across Australia in the states of Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania, as well as New Zealand and now the USA. JJ’s Waste & Recycling operates a fleet of over 1,800 vehicles and employs more than 2,200 people.
The company offers a wide range of solid, hazardous, and liquid waste collection services to over 110,000 commercial clients, and conducts 2.5 million domestic garbage, recycling, sanitary, and green waste collection services per week under contract for 63 local authorities across Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
JJ’s Waste & Recycling has expanded its services beyond domestic curbside collection and now provides a comprehensive array of commercial and residential services, supplying customers with complete waste management solutions for all their waste-related needs.
The founder’s family continues to own and manage the company, which has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned waste management firms in Australia.
